There is exciting news to report at The Marquess Tavern, Islington’s favourite gastropub!
We have just recruited a new head chef, Gethin Russell Jones. Gethin is an immensely talented young chef with a great track record. He was the head chef at the renowned Graze restaurant in Brighton and before that cut his teeth as sous chef at Ju Tanaka’s Pearl in London.
Gethin has devised exciting new restaurant and bar menus for the Marquess which rely on the finest locally-sourced ingredients and successfully blend both traditional and modern styles of cookery. We are absolutely confident that these new menus will leave you spoilt for choice!

However, for our loyal customers in Canonbury and beyond, don’t worry, we haven’t abandoned our award-winning Sunday lunch service. On Sundays, you will still find our famous beef, pork and lamb roasts, including meat sold by weight to share, which Gethin will be cooking alongside a selection of new dishes. We believe that, with Gethin’s talents, our Sunday service will be even tastier than before!
